Update Product Type
PUT/api/v2/product-types/:type
Rename and/or move a product type. Fields you omit keep their current value. Renaming rewrites path for the type and its whole subtree; moving it re-parents the subtree and keeps the old and new parents' is_leaf flags truthful (a parent left with no children becomes a leaf again).
products:writeGrant this scope to your token under Settings → Developer → Personal Access Tokens.
Authentication: Requires Bearer token.
Fields:
name(optional, string, max 120) — same rules as on create (no>, unique among siblings, case-insensitive).parent_id(optional, integer or null) — the new parent; null moves the type to the top level. A type cannot be moved under itself or one of its descendants, the target parent must be active, and the moved subtree must still fit within 3 levels.sort_order(optional, integer or null, min 0).
Requires permission: product_types.update

Unauthenticated — the bearer token is missing, revoked, expired, or malformed. Never retry automatically; fix the credential. See the Errors guide.
Forbidden — the token lacks a required scope, the endpoint is not available to API tokens, or the user behind the token lacks the permission. A human must adjust the token scopes or user permissions; do not retry.
Not found — no record with the given identifier (or the route does not exist). Verify the ID before retrying.
